CIPRES Software Releases
The first release of CIPRES will require the user to have a licensed version of PAUP already installed - support for a wider range of tree inference programs is a high priority and will be addressed soon.
To satisfy the needs of the user community the software will be:
- Freely available via download from this site.
- Platform-independent. The core application will run on a variety of operating systems (Windows-2000/XP, Linux, Mac OS 10.3 or greater) and diverse architectures from individual laptops to loose clusters of machines to the dedicated CIPRES supercomputer).
- User-friendly. We are developing a system of creating a graphical user-interface for each component in the CIPRES system. CIPRES will necessarily be fairly complex application with many pieces, we are currently working on a simple user installation procedure.
- Well supported. The CIPRES software team is using bug tracking/feature request software. User suggestions for features and usability issues are encouraged. We will email an estimate for requested feature incorporation time within 7 days of submission.
We have begun alpha testing of a new release for MAC OS 10.3 (panther)/10.4 (tiger).
- Tools and instructions for installing and running the cipres software can be found at:
